Around 350 agents from the brazilian Federal Police have lauched this Monday morning the operation I-Commerce, with the goal of punishing the spreading of pirate files through personal websites and virtual auctions.
You can get 4 years of reclusion plus a fine if you are caught infringing the article 184 of the Penal Code which talks about copyright crimes. However no Brazilian has ever been scared about it. But here something shocking:
“A 22 year-old boy student was arrested at his home in Campo Grande, suspected of promoting free access to several movies, and TV Series from big north american studios.”
Wait a second, a guy for example puts a link to a file from Emule at Edonkers and get arrested? How did they get on him on the first place? They have talked recently about it on the mainstream media declaring it’s not a crime to download episodes from Lost or any other series.
However, the IFPI has warned that 20 brazilians were going to be sued for using P2P networks. The site declares that the music industry has launched a new wave of lawsuits against illegal file sharing. It looks like these news have been created to scare the population.
So are you gonna turn off your Emule tonight?
